DURING security checks at the
railway station, the Jabalpur GRP
recovered 5.342 kg of marijuana from a woman. The estimated value of the seized marijuana is Rs 1,33,550. Police have registered a case against the accused
woman under the NDPS Act and
initiated an investigation.
According to the GRP, on the
morning of October 7, a police
team was conducting platform
checks at the Itarsi end of platform number 2-3 at Jabalpur
Railway Station. A woman
appeared suspicious. Her
demeanor and actions seemed
suspicious, prompting police to
stop her and question her. The
woman identified herself as
Baidehi Bai, wife of Sujit Shilpi
(35), resident of village Chainpur,
Police Station Bari, District
Raisen, currently residing at
Gauddhaba Dulampur, Police
Station Atabera, District Bargarh,
Odisha. Upon searching the cloth
bag the woman was carrying, five
packets wrapped in white cloth
were found.
Upon examination,
the packets were found to contain marijuana. Weighing the
marijuana with an electronic
weighing scale revealed a total
weight of 5.342 kilograms. Police
duly seized all five packets.
The GRP has registered a case
against the accused woman
under Section 8/20 of the NDPS
Act. Police are now investigating
the source of the marijuana. This
operation was carried out under
the guidance of SP, Railway
Jabalpur, Sundar Singh Kanesh,
Additional SP Ashutosh Mishra,
and Deputy Superintendent
of Police (SP), Ankita Sulya,
under the leadership of Station
House Officer Sanjeevani
Rajput.
ASI B C Udde, along with
Head Constables Arun Tiwari,
Manoj Mishra, Parshuram,
Ravikant, Gopal, Satyendra,
Ajay Tiwari, Rajendra Markam,
Sagar Upadhyay, and female
constables Varsha Dubey and
Manisha played a key role in
the operation.
