RAIPUR :
FOUR Central Reserve Police
Force (CRPF) personnel, including two Assistant Sub-Inspectors,
sustained injuries when an explosive accidentally detonated during a disposal operation near
Elaramadgu camp in Sukma district on Thursday.
The incident occurred near
Bodrajpadar nullah, approximately 200 metres from the camp
under Bhejji police station limits, while an Ammunition
Technician Team (ATT) was disposing of unserviceable and leftover explosives. The team,
belonging to CRPF’s 50th
Battalion, had arrived from
Jagdalpur to inspect camps at
Pidmel, Dabbakonta, Kolaiguda
and Elaramadgu in the Konta
range.
According to preliminary
information, a portion of an
explosive or bomb was accidentally propelled towards a nearby
location and detonated, injuring personnel engaged in disposal and security duties.
Assistant Sub-Inspectors M K
Tiwari of ATT and Aneesh Khan
of the 50th Battalion sustained
serious injuries. Inspector
Amarnath Mishra of ATT and
Head Constable Kuldeep Raj of
the 50th Battalion suffered minor
injuries. Sukma Superintendent
of Police Mayank Gurjar told
mediapersons that all four
injured personnel were immediately administered first aid
before being shifted to the
Government Hospital at Konta.
