JABALPUR is set to get a major
boost to its urban infrastructure
under Rs 200-crore CITIIS 2.0
project. The project will focus on
solid waste management, clean
energy and environment-friendly transport. A high-level delegation from France visited the
city, on Thursday. Mayor Jagat
Bahadur Singh along with
Collector Raghavendra Singh and
Municipal Commissioner
Ramprakash Ahirwar welcomed
the delegation.
The Jabalpur Municipal
Corporation (JMC) presented its
action plan for improving solid
waste management in the city. The
plan includes a 100-tonne-perday compressed biogas (CBG)
plant and a 75-tonne construction and demolition (C&D) waste
processing plant. New mechanised transfer stations will also
be developed. Automation and
modern monitoring dashboards
will be introduced to improve the
waste management system.
Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh
said the selection of Jabalpur
under CITIIS 2.0 is a major
achievement for the city. He said
the city is progressing rapidly
and is gaining recognition for
the quality and timely completion of development projects. He
said the selection of Jabalpur for
CITIIS 2.0 is a matter of pride.
He invited the French delegation to attend the Narmada Aarti
and visit the city’s urban forest.
Collector Singh said clean energy and electric vehicles are important for making the city cleaner
and reducing pollution. He said
Jabalpur's waste-to-energy plant
is emerging as a model for other
cities. Municipal Commissioner
Ahirwar said all departments
would work in coordination to
complete projects within the stipulated time. Representatives of the
Agence Française de Development (AFD), CITIIS PMU, Jabalpur Smart City and other project teams attended the meeting
