Nagpur Cyber Police have busted an inter-state cybercrime syndicate that cheated a Nagpur resident of Rs 2.87 crore through a fake share trading platform. Two suspects were arrested after police tracked them to Mumbai and used a Zomato parcel delivery ruse to nab them. The arrested accused have been identified as Bhupendra Mahavir Jain (32), a resident of Borivali, Mumbai, originally from Rajasthan, and Yogesh Parasmal Jain (37), from Ajmer, Rajasthan. Police said the syndicate used advertisements on Instagram and Telegram groups to attract investors. The fraudsters promoted a fake trading platform called FTMO and promised high returns. They cheated the victim through 33 transactions. Earlier, on October 15, police arrested Kakasaheb Mohan Durunde from Patoda in Beed district. He allegedly arranged active bank accounts of different companies for cybercrime syndicates. Further investigation led police to the two suspects in Borivali.

They were arrested on October 30 and remanded to three days of police custody. Investigators found that the cheated money was transferred to 38 bank accounts through nine transactions within just 24 seconds. Police seized mobile phones, SIM cards, 11 debit cards, banking kits of seven banks, company stamps and digital signature tokens. Aadhaar, PAN and voter ID cards were also recovered. Technical investigation revealed that the accused handled bank accounts used in cyber frauds and had links with networks in Dubai and Hong Kong. Police are searching for other members of the syndicate.
