Artificial limbs were distributed to 40 persons with disabilities at a programme held at Gadkari Wada in Mahal, in an initiative aimed at improving mobility and supporting the rehabilitation of beneficiaries. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari distributed the artificial limbs and interacted with the beneficiaries. Several recipients demonstrated their ability to walk after being fitted with the limbs.
The initiative is part of a series of interventions undertaken through the Centre for Disability Empowerment (CRC), established in Nagpur in 2015 at Gadkari’s initiative. Speaking on the occasion, Gadkari said that enabling persons with disabilities to stand and walk independently was a deeply fulfilling experience. He emphasised the importance of restoring their ability to work and support their families. CRC chief Praful Shinde said the initiative was based on the principle that persons with disabilities needed opportunities rather than sympathy. Dr Pravin Bhalerao, Assistant Private Secretary to Gadkari, was also present.
