Iron plates protecting joints

Damoh Naka flyover has once again become a target for thieves, with heavy iron plates installed near the rotary being stolen. The missing plates have left portions of the road damaged, making it difficult for motorists to pass through the affected stretch. The plates were installed to protect the joints of the flyover, but thieves have reportedly been removing them under the cover of darkness. Their absence has left gaps and depressions on the road, causing vehicles to jerk while passing over these spots. Theft incidents at the busy intersection have also raised questions about police patrolling and monitoring arrangements. Despite the area’s heavy traffic movement, miscreants appear to be taking advantage of inadequate surveillance to carry out the thefts.

This is not the first time that iron plates have disappeared from the Damoh Naka rotary. Similar incidents were reported earlier, following which the concerned department and police took action. The thefts stopped for some time but have now resumed. The gradual disappearance of plates from different sections of the rotary also points to a lack of regular monitoring by the concerned authorities. Commuters have urged the police to increase night patrolling and keep a close watch on suspicious activities around the flyover. They have also called for stricter monitoring of scrap dealers to prevent stolen iron from being sold. They said the missing plates should be replaced without delay and regular inspections carried out to prevent further thefts. Stronger surveillance is needed to protect public infrastructure and ensure smooth traffic movement.
