The Indian Air Force (IAF) held a spectacular aerial display over Sendh Lake here on Sunday as part of the Chhattisgarh Rajyotsav 2026 celebrations. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was the chief guest. The programme featured the Akash Ganga skydiving team, a Mi-17 helicopter and the Sarang Helicopter Display Team, and showcased the courage, precision and professionalism of the nation’s air warriors.

The Akash Ganga team opened the show with a skydiving display that highlighted the courage, coordination and discipline essential to precision parachuting. The Mi-17 then demonstrated rapid troop deployment and precision flying. After a high-speed approach and an assessment of the landing zone, the helicopter touched down and deployed Garud Commandos to reinforce the team already positioned on the ground in a simulated operational scenario. The helicopter then lifted off and performed controlled lateral movement, spot turns and dynamic manoeuvres, displaying its agility, responsiveness and the crew’s coordination.

The sequence highlighted the close integration of air and ground elements, as well as the Mi-17’s versatility in troop transport, operational support, casualty evacuation, search and rescue, and humanitarian assistance. Flying the indigenously developed Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, the Sarang Helicopter Display Team enthralled spectators with synchronised formations and precision aerial manoeuvres. The performance reflected the IAF’s flying proficiency and teamwork, while showcasing India’s indigenous aerospace capabilities. The display brought the IAF closer to the people of Chhattisgarh and gave young spectators an inspiring glimpse into military aviation and service to the nation. Another aerial display will be held over Sendh Lake on Monday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Spectators are requested to arrive in advance and follow the instructions of the local administration and event personnel.
