A grand and spiritually evocative mass band performance was organised on the banks of the Narmada to mark the completion of 90 years of the Rashtriya Sevika Samiti. The programme witnessed 132 Sevikas performing together in a musical tribute to the sacred river, reflecting India’s cultural heritage, spiritual consciousness and the spirit of social harmony. The event was held in the august presence of Pankaja, All India Chief of Samiti’s band section and Prachi Patil, All India Joint Chief of the band section. The participants dedicated their collective musical practice and discipline to Maa Narmada through a series of captivating performances.

A total of 132 sevika members presented 10 different musical compositions. The performances included Shiv Vandana, Omkar and a Meera composition, along with pieces based on Indian classical ragas, highlighting the spiritual depth and richness of the country’s musical traditions. Dressed in uniform white attire, the participants performed in disciplined formations. The synchronised sounds of the band instruments and the co-ordinated movements of the members created an atmosphere of dignity and devotion. The performance attracted tourists and devotees, who watched the presentation with keen interest and reverence. A key highlight of the programme was the demonstration of auspicious symbols associated with Indian culture through coordinated band formations.

The participants also formed an artistic representation of Maa Narmada in her maternal form and offered a symbolic circumambulation to the river, accompanied by other musical instruments. The presentation showcased exceptional coordination, rhythm, discipline and collective effort. The programme also reflected the spirit of social harmony, as women from different families, regions and social backgrounds came together with a shared purpose. The 90-year journey of the Rashtriya Sevika Samiti represents the organisation of women around the values of discipline, cultural traditions and dedication to the nation. The mass band performance on the banks of the Narmada served as a symbol of this legacy, bringing together devotion, musical excellence, social harmony and national spirit.
