Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Dr Sudhanshu Trivedi on Tuesday alleged that infiltration was being used as a tool to create social unrest, divide society, weaken constitutional institutions and ultimately undermine Sanatan Dharma and global Hindu community. Addressing the ‘Rashtra Chintan Samvad’ organised under the banner of ‘Loktantra Bachao – Arajakta Hatao’ at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Civil Lines, Dr Trivedi said the issues of illegal infiltration, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged attacks on constitutional institutions need to be understood in a wider national and international context. Explaining the need for SIR, he cited figures relating to voters who could not be traced during the electoral roll verification exercise.

He claimed that notices had been issued to around 13 crore voters who could not be found at their registered addresses. Referring to the figures, he mentioned approximately 2.8 crore deceased voters, 12 crore voters who had shifted and three crore were non-traceable. He said the exercise was necessary to ensure accuracy and integrity of electoral rolls. Congress and other Opposition parties are focusing on these 3 crore non-traceable names. Dr Trivedi commented India was striving to emerge as a strong global power while maintaining its dignity and democratic values, but this progress was not being welcomed by several countries. He argued that India’s growing stature and independent approach were creating discomfort among sections of the international community.

Dr Trivedi pointed out the world was witnessing significant changes in the balance of power, with the United States, China and Europe facing their own economic and political challenges. Referring to economic difficulties in the US and China and problems confronting several European countries, he argued that India was emerging as a major global force under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dr Trivedi stated that India’s achievements in digital transactions and the opening up of the space sector to private players reflected the country’s growing capabilities. He also referred to Operation Sindoor, saying India had demonstrated its strategic strength without getting drawn into a prolonged conflict. Taking a dig at the Opposition, particularly Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he said understanding Prime Minister Modi’s strategic thinking was beyond the Opposition’s comprehension. He maintained that India had achieved its objectives through a carefully calibrated response.

On the issue of infiltration, Dr Trivedi stressed the need to examine its wider implications for national security, social harmony and the country’s democratic framework. He argued that attempts to question SIR process and create doubts about constitutional institutions should also be viewed in this context. Dr Trivedi also questioned conventional parameters used to assess a country’s progress, referring to difficulties faced by people in several European nations despite their high rankings in international happiness indices. BJP City President Dayashankar Tiwari, Association for Industrial Development President Ashish Kale, Confidence Group Director Nitin Khara, former Chairman of Akhil Bharatiya Maheshwari Mahasabha Shyamsunder Soni also spoke on the occasion. The programme was organised by Loktantra Bachao – Arajakta Hatao Committee. CA Swarupa Wazalwar, President of the Nagpur Branch of WIRC of ICAI, District Government Pleader Adv Nitin Telgote, MLC Dr Parinay Fuke, Jayprakash Gupta, Avinash Thakre, Vidarbha Industries Association Lady Entrepreneur Wing Secretary Poonam Gupta, former MLC Prof Anil Sole, Girish Vyas, CA Girish Mundada, CA Sandeep Surana, Mahipal Sethi, Adv Sanket Yadav, Dr Vinod Dadhe, Dr Shrirang Waradpande were seated on the dais.
