With authorities finally taking accountability for the garbage dump on Deo Nagar Road, people get to witness a clean stretch in front of the MSEDCL office, opposite Hanuman Mandir.
The heap that had become a nightmare for devotees and residents is finally witnessing cleanliness, with civic authorities carrying out garbage removal activity after ‘The Hitavada’ highlighted the issue.
The development follows The Hitavada’s report “Garbage pile chokes Deo Nagar Road, Hanuman Mandir devotees suffer” published in yesterday’s City Line that exposed the alarming condition on Deo Nagar Road, Ajni, where a sprawling garbage dump had turned daily commuting into a nauseating affair. The story also noted that hundreds of devotees visiting the Hanuman Mandir daily had to cover their noses, and flowers and prasad were being offered opposite a garbage mountain. Soon after the issue was raised, civic authorities initiated cleaning work in the affected area under the guidance of Neeta Thakre, Mayor.
Shivani Dani-Wakhare, Standing Committee Chairperson took initiative, coordinated with the concerned zone and pursued immediate action. GPS-tagged visuals on Wednesday at 1.28 pm showed the NMC garbage collection vehicle at the spot. The ongoing monitoring has significantly improved conditions on the busy link connecting Rahate Colony, Ajni and Khamla. Speaking on the action, Dani-Wakhare said, “Providing a clean and healthy environment is our priority. The issue came to light through the media, we contacted the administration. The problem being resolved in a day is
satisfying.”
