The Agriculture Department is implementing the ‘Per Drop More Crop’ micro-irrigation scheme under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana in Nagpur district, offering subsidies to encourage water-efficient farming.
The scheme covers sprinkler sets, drip irrigation systems, rain guns and semi-permanent irrigation systems. The District Superintendent Agriculture Officer has appealed to farmers to avail themselves of the benefits. Awareness campaigns are being conducted at taluka level, with a special drive for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe
beneficiaries.
Eligible farmers from these categories can receive subsidies of up to 90 per cent through the convergence of different government schemes.
Under the Central scheme, small and marginal farmers receive 55 per cent subsidy, while other farmers receive 45 per cent.
The State-sponsored scheme provides supplementary assistance of 25 per cent to small and marginal farmers and 30 per cent to other farmers. The Special Component Scheme provides the remaining additional subsidy of 10 per cent to 15 per cent.
