Defunct streetlights and high-mast lights in Samta Nagar, Babadip Nagar and Adivasi Layout under Ashi Nagar Zone were restored within a day after ‘The Hitavada’ highlighted the darkness. The report “Darkness, broken roads plague Samta Nagar” had exposed how one high-mast near Samta Nagar bridge was completely off and only two lamps glowed on the other, leaving internal lanes unsafe for women, elderly and children. Taking note of the issue, Nitin Solanke, City Chief, Shiv Sena (UBT) met Ganesh Rathod, Assistant Municipal Commissioner and sent a representation to Pradeep Khobragade, Chief Electrical Officer. Following pursuance by Shivani Dani-Wakhare, Standing Committee Chairperson, under guidance of Neeta Thakre, Mayor; NMC teams restored the lights. GPS-tagged visuals on Thursday showed the spot illuminated.
