A 75-year-old woman was found murdered inside her flat at Vajpayee Nagar Multi under Shahjahanabad police station limits early Friday. The victim, identified as Kalari Devi, was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple injury marks on her body. Police suspect she resisted the attackers before being assaulted and killed. The assailants allegedly removed the gold-fitted artificial tooth and took her earrings. Neighbour found open flat: The murder came to light around 4 am when a neighbour, Varsha, noticed that Devi’s flat door was open. After calling out several times without receiving a response, she entered and found the woman lying on the floor. She alerted other residents and relatives, who informed the police. Son was away on night duty:

Devi’s only son, who is speech and hearingimpaired and unmarried, works at a Government office in Shyamla Hills and was on night duty when the incident occurred. She also had four married daughters. Police are questioning family members, neighbours and others to establish who visited her regularly and who may have known about her valuables. Investigators are examining how the attackers knew about the gold fitted in the woman’s artificial tooth. The missing tooth and earrings have raised suspicion that the accused may have been familiar with her belongings and daily routine. Police are also checking CCTV footage from nearby areas. Residents said cameras installed in the residential complex after an earlier murder are currently not functioning.
