
BANKING services and production in mines in the region are
likely to see partial disruption on
February 12 as trade unions are
all set to observe nationwide
strike to protest against the ‘antiworker’ policies of the
Government. Members and
office-bearers of All India Bank
Employees’ Association (AIBEA),
All India Bank Officers
Association (AIBOA), and Bank
Employees Federation of India
(BEFI) in the city will participate
in the strike along with 10 Central
Trade Unions (CTUs).
The Eastern Maharashtra Bank
Employees Association has
appealed to its members to
assemble in front of the Bank of
India Zonal Office on Kingswayat 10:30 am for a demonstrationagainst the new anti-workerlabour laws. After the demonstration, participants will participate in a rally, where brief
addresses will mark the conclusion of the strike programme.
Similarly, production in various mines in the region may getaffected on February 12 as coal
mine workers are also taking partin the strike. In addition to this,
participation of power sectoremployees, engineers, workers,
and farmers may further causedisruption in other services.
