On the auspicious occasion of Magh Pournima, a large number of devotees gathered at the banks of river Narmada from the early hours on Sunday. Despite biting cold, devotees took holy dips at prominent ghats including Gwarighat, Tilwaraghat and Bhedaghat, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere across the riverfront. Devotees began arriving at the ghats around 5 am for darshan and ritual bathing. According to astrologers and religious scholars, Magh Pournima holds special religious significance and bathing in sacred rivers like the Ganga and Narmada during the Magh month is believed to bring spiritual merit. It is believed that those unable to bathe in the Ganga attain similar religious benefits by taking a dip in the Narmada on this day.

Religious gurus said Magh Pournima is considered highly sacred in Hindu scriptures. They added that devotees observe rituals with faith and devotion, seeking prosperity and well being for their families. Devotees from different areas said they usually visit Gwarighat on every major festival. They are fortunate to perform Narmada darshan and snan (bathing) at Gwarighat. The spiritual importance of the festival draws them to the ghat every time, despite the harsh cold. After the ritual bath, devotees performed deep daan and offered charity, praying for peace, prosperity and happiness. From early morning, Gwarighat and surrounding areas remained filled with devotion, faith and spiritual fervour.
