A grand procession was taken out in Sanskardhani on the occasion of 649th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Ravidas Ji on Sunday. A large number of devotees, members of the community and representatives of various organisations participated in the procession. The procession began with traditional rituals and prayers. An attractive tableau depicting Sant Ravidas was the main attraction and drew the attention of onlookers. The procession passed through major city routes, where residents welcomed it by showering flowers. Arrangements for refreshments and prasad were also made for devotees at several places along the route.

 

Addressing the gathering, senior community people spoke about the life and teachings of Sant Ravidas, highlighting his message of social harmony, equality and humanity. They said the ideals propagated by Sant Ravidas remain relevant even today and continue to guide society. They said Sant Ravidas always gave the message of unity, brotherhood and mutual respect. The procession concluded with a collective aarti and distribution of prasad. Adequate security arrangements were in made throughout the event, ensuring it concluded peacefully and in an orderly manner. On the occasion, members of the community took pledge to follow the path shown by Sant Ravidas.
