In a massive breakthrough for rural healthcare, Maharashtra Government has given approval for the 300-bedded state-of-the-art Sub-District Hospital (SDH) at Talegaon (SP), taluka Asthi in Wardha district - a project set to redefine public healthcare standards in Maharashtra. The tender for the construction work has been floated and soon, it will be ready in next two years.

First super speciality SDH in Maharashtra

Spread across an impressive 24,000 square meters of built-up planning, this ultra-modern facility is designed to deliver super-specialty level treatment at the Sub-District Hospital stage, a first in Maharashtra. The work of its construction has already gained momentum. Maharashtra Government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with International Finance Corporation affiliated to World Bank. “As per the MoU, we can set up a medical college on Public Private Partnership basis (PPP),” said Arvi MLA Sumit Wankhede who took the initiative to bring the hospital here. People of Arvi constituency have expressed their gratitude towards Wankhede for pursuing the matter with the Government.

“As the rural hospitals usually don’t have modern healthcare facilities, people reach tertiary care hospitals like Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) or Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH). The burden on tertiary care centres increases. The hospital at Talegaon is being developed in a way so that people living around here will not have to go to major hospitals in city,” pointed out Wankhede. The hospital has advanced super-specialty infrastructure, modern modular operation theatres, advanced ICU, PICU & HDU units. It will have a dedicated Trauma and Emergency Care Centre, state-of-the-art Neuro Care Unit, advanced Cardiology Wing, CT Scan and all radiology services, special ophthalmic wards, Comprehensive Mother and Child Care Centre. The design has been executed as per advanced PWD norms.
