The OPD at District Hospital reached 1,000
The District Hospital in Nagpur, near Mental Hospital, became ready four months ago and its attendace of Outpatient Department (OPD) reached 1,000 now. Though it is serving well, it is facing fund crunch. Why it is not getting inaugurated yet is a million dollar question. Since it was a dream project of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, people feel it should be inaugurated by him only.
The hospital has G+2 building which has 100 beds. Right now, this has become a boon for the people as critical care specialists are rendering services there. The building has CT scan and MRI machines. The hospital did not have even beds.
The administration brought some material from Bhandara and Wardha where the hospitals run by Public Health are non-functional from the last 10 years.
Fortunately, Government took care to appoint doctors, technical staff and other employees. Departments like ENT, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and others are ready. Considering the need of the patients, the hospital administration, without waiting for the inauguation, started it. The Ophthalmology department in the premises too is catering to the need of people suffering from eye ailments.
It was a long-pending demand of the people to set up the district hospital and the project was pending since long. After a lot of delay finally, the hospital came up. Had the High Court not intervened, the project would have delayed further.
The hospital has a eye hospital block, ready to operate alongside the main facility. Of the sanctioned 108 posts, barring a few, all are filled. They include medical officers, specialists, and staff nurses. MLA Vikas Thakre, in whose constituency the hospital comes had been pursuing works of District Hospital for last five years. Civil structure works of G+2 Floor Hospital Building, G+1 Floor Building of administrative office of District Civil Surgeon, warehouse etc is ready.
Adjacent to District Hospital premises, a 50-bedded Ayush Hospital dedicated to Ayurved pathy is coming. It is also a part of District Hospital.
