The 75th staging (prayog) of the historical play ‘Sangh Ganga ke teen Bhagirath’, depicting the lives and legacy of the first three Sarsanghchalaks of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), was staged before a packed audience at Vasantrao Naik Memorial Hall, VANAMATI, on Monday. The landmark performance, staged to celebrate the centenary year of the RSS, drew an enthusiastic response from citizens, scholars and theatre lovers, underlining the continuing appeal of value-based historical drama. Suresh ‘Bhaiyyaji’ Joshi, National Executive Committee Member, RSS, presided over the event. Ravindra Bhusari, former State General Secretary (Organisation) of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP); Devesh Pendharkar, Director, VICCO laboratories; Kishor Bawane, President, Devta Life Foundation; Ajay Sancheti, former MP; Ghanshyam Kukreja; Jaiprakash Gupta; Tarachand Goyal; Mangesh Jawekar; Nikhil Mundale were among special guests at the staging.
The production presents Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder of the organisation, M S Golwalkar, reverentially known as Guruji, and Balasaheb Deoras as the “three Bhagiraths” who channelled the metaphorical Ganga of the Sangh through their vision, leadership and tireless service to the nation. Using this symbolism, the play portrays how each leader contributed to shaping the organisation during different phases of its growth.
Through powerful dialogue, period settings and emotionally charged performances, the narrative traces their dedication to national reconstruction, social organisation and character-building.
The artistes received repeated applause for their compelling portrayals, while the script balanced historical context with dramatic expression.
The evening concluded with a standing ovation to the director Sanjay Pendse, writer Shridhar Gadge and others, marking not only a theatrical milestone but also a cultural moment celebrating history, leadership and service in Nagpur. Nilimatai Bawne proposed a vote of thanks. Tararani Foundation, Pune, presented the event.
