Brushing aside general perception that white-collar roles usually offer higher pay, blue-collar jobs offer only long working hours, high satisfaction and essential skills not handsome salary, new skill enhancement courses are now transforming ITI and Polytechnic pass out life. One such example is country’s premiere advance training institutes is planning to intensified its reach in other central Indian states. World Skill Development Centre in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, which has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bihar, Uttarakhand to give training to skill development trainers of these states is also in talks with others states, including Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Highlighting existing tie ups and upcoming activities, Chief Operation Officer of the centre, Pinaki Patnaik told to ‘The Hitavada’ that as we have achieved 100 per cent placement results in past three years and youth from our institute are also working overseas for instance a youth has got a package of Rs 26 lakh per annum in Singapore. Such a lucrative package was limited to highly professionals like information & technology or equivalent field but now it has been proved that if proper training program is designed, it would have yield excellent results like this. The WSC caters primarily to induct the best talent from ITIs and Polytechnics and train them to become globally employable in emerging areas. To facilitate overseas placement opportunities for skilled candidates, the WSC Bhubaneswar has signed strategic MoUs with Atreya Global Private Limited collaboration with Kawasaki Robotics India Private Limited to impart advance training in robotics, automation and advanced manufacturing.
 
For further strengthening and enhancing inclusive and institutional capacity: Skill Development & Technical Education Department signed an MoU with UNICEF to enhance placement opportunities for girls through the YouthHub platform, DTET, Odisha partnered with Tata Technologies to upgrade 22 Government ITIs into Centres of Excellence. These collaborations mark a significant step towards building a globally competitive, industry-aligned, and inclusive skill ecosystem in Odisha. That’s why states of our countries have shown interest to be a part of our institute. It is learned that officials of this institute met Skill Development Minister of Madhya Pradesh and proposed to be a part their programmes. TOT, Amit talking to ‘The Hitavada’ said that in last three years more than 3000 people were given training by him. The World Skill Centre (WSC) is established by the Government of Odisha through the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA). Chief Minister of Odisha inaugurated the WSC on March 5, 2021. The project of establishing the WSC (Odisha Skill Development Project), is assisted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with Institute of Technical Education Services (ITEES), Singapore as the knowledge partner. The WSC imparts advanced skill training in eight trades from engineering and service sectors. In view of its success in such a short span of time, the Odisha Government has decided to add logistics, digital and animation etc streams in coming years for which State government will provide financial support of Rs 1,140 crore.
