IT SELDOM happens in a team sport and that too in a semi-final clash that a single player scores all the points.
Ovi Pande did exactly that. She scored all the 12 points as hosts Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM) blanked Gurudeo Nagar Krida Mandal (GKM) 12-0 (2-0, 2-0, 4-0, 4-0) in semi-final of the Prakash Rajurkar Memorial Talent Hunt Basketball League Inter-Club U-10 Basketball Championship, on Tuesday.
In the first two quarters, Ovi scored two each while in the third and fourth quarters, she fired in four each making it a one-girl show. In the other semis, Spartan recorded a convincing 20-8 win over Nagpur Amateur Sporting Association (NASA).
Prissha Nagmote top-scored with 10 points while the duo of Punarvi Nakshine and Anvi Wanjari contributed four each. For the losing side, Aanaya Patil scored 8 points.
The quarter-wise scores read 4-0, 6-0, 8-2, 2-6.
DKM boys followed the girls earning a spot in the summit clash. With good performances from Advik Waghmare (8), Agrim Karandikar (6), Chaitanya Godbole (6) and Ansh Tokekar (2) DKM thumped Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) 22-6 (6-2, 4-0, 4-2, 8-2). For NBYS, Srihari Ghawale scored 4 points.
In a low-scoring second semis, Pande Layout Sporting Club (PLSC) pipped Spartan 7-4. PLSC scored two points in the first quarter. Spartan boys fought back to make it 2-2 at the halfway mark. In the third quarter, both teams scored two each to make it four all. But in the decider, PLSC scored three while Spartan failed to score any.
Prajishnu Sanyal (5) and Aarav Sawarkar (2) were the scorers for the winners while Spartan’s Ayan Dorge (2) and Hitansh Waghaye (2) shared four points.
