The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly passed the Motion of Thanks on Governor Ramen Deka’s address through a voice vote on the third day of the ongoing Budget Session on Wednesday. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai participating in the debate launched a sharp attack on the previous Congress Government. He accused its ‘syndicate’ of looting State through multiple scams. These included irregularities in coal, liquor sales, and the District Mineral Trust (DMF). “Nothing escaped their corruption,” Sai stated. The Chief Minister emphasised that his Government now directs liquor revenue toward public welfare. He alleged that funds under the Rajiv Mitan Yojana appeared only during Rahul Gandhi’s visits under Congress rule. Sai also criticised the party’s ‘two-and-a-half-year leadership’ model. He said it caused administrative instability. Sai pointed to alleged flaws in the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission’s State Service Exam. He claimed these compromised the future of the state’s youth. Several individuals face arrest in corruption cases, he added. More arrests will follow. The Chief Minister identified Naxalism and corruption as the biggest barriers to Chhattisgarh’s progress. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Naxalism now stands on its “last legs” in the state. Sai recalled a recent meeting chaired by Shah. He noted that over 70 percent of India’s Naxal activities once concentrated in Chhattisgarh. This happened due to the previous Congress government’s weak resolve. Sai described Bastar as “a paradise on earth.” His government provides basic amenities through the ‘Niyad Nellanar’ scheme. Security force camps are expanding there. School bells now ring where gunfire once echoed.

Even the mother of notorious Naxal leader Hidma receives treatment at a government hospital. Surrendered Naxalites qualify for homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The Chief Minister highlighted the Bastar Pandum and Bastar Olympics as sources of state pride. President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Pandum. Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended its closing ceremony. Sai rejected Congress allegations that Bastar is being handed over to corporate houses. He called these claims completely baseless. His government aims to expand irrigation, promote tourism, and provide basic facilities. Bastar offers vast tourism potential. Home stays will create jobs for locals. A large number of tourists now visit the Tribal Museum, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated. The museum showcases Chhattisgarh’s rich culture and history. Sai further alleged Congress corruption in the Ram Van Gaman Path project. He announced the inauguration of Chitrotpala Film City. This will boost Chhattisgarhi films and support local artists. The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment. It follows the path of development, good governance, and transparency. The goal is a Chhattisgarh free from corruption and Naxalism. Earlier, BJP MLA Dharamjeet Singh initiated the debate. Congress MLAs Umesh Patel, Kawasi Lakhma, and Savitri Manoj Mandavi spoke next. BJP MLAs Bhawana Bohra and Neelkanth Tekam also participated. Congress MLAs staged a walkout at the start. They protested the absence of the Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, and senior officers. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel raised the issue as Singh began speaking. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kedar Kashyap, and other ministers then entered the House. Congress MLAs rejoined the discussion afterward.
