“It is an opportunity for Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University (NDVSU) to host the 48th Annual Convention and National Symposium ISVS-2026 from February 26. The three-day event is being jointly organized by NDVSU and the Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery (ISVS), bringing together leading experts to discuss modern veterinary surgery and advanced imaging technologies”, informed Dr Mandeep Sharma, Vice-chancellor, NDVSU while addressing a press conference, on Wednesday. Dr Sharma added that theme of the conference is “Integrated Horizons in Veterinary Surgery and Imaging: From Scalpel to Screen.” The inaugural ceremony will be attended by Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Lakhan Patel as Chief Guest while Umesh Chandra Sharma, President of the Veterinary Council of India will be the Guest of Honour. Dean and Organizing Secretary Apara Shahi, addressing the conference, informed that around 500 scientists, academicians and researchers from across the country are expected to participate.
 
During the conference, 449 research abstracts and eight keynote papers will be presented. A total of 11 technical sessions are scheduled, covering key areas such as anesthesia, avian surgery, orthopedics, radiology, wildlife surgery and small animal surgical practices. Several awards and honours will also be presented to distinguished professionals in the veterinary field. JM Nigam will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Ruminant Surgery. Senior founding members MR Patel (99) and PE Kulkarni (95) will be felicitated for their outstanding contributions. Additionally, Vijay Parihar will be honoured with O. Ramakrishna Oration Award while young scientists and best clinicians will also be recognised. During the press conference, Dean RK Sharma, School of Wildlife Forensic Health Director Shobha Jawre, Ramkinkar Mishra, IPRO, Sona Dubey and faculty members including Randhir Singh and Babita Das were present.
