SARASWATI Vidyalaya and Montfort School won titles in girls and boys categories respectively of the 7th Dadasahib Somalwar Memorial U-15 Inter-School Basketball Tournament. The event was organised by Somalwar Academy Education Society in association with NDBA. In girls final, Saraswati Vidyalaya beat The South Public School 41-23 (14-04, 14-05, 08-07, 05-07). For Saraswati Vidyalaya, Akshada Dharme (15) and Anagha Dharme (11) were the top-scorers. Akshada was named Best Player of the Tournament. In boys’ title clash, Montfort School defeated Somalwar. Ramdaspeth 56-51 (13-11, 13-07, 11-16, 19-17). Montfort’s Dhairya Deshmukh (20) and Akshat Sachan (15) did the bulk of scoring. For Somalwar, Vedant Karambe scored a match high of 25 points while Gyan B scored eight points.
 
Dhairya was declared Best Player of the Tournament. Earlier in the girls semi-finals, Somalwar lost to Saraswati while The South Public School defeated Centre Point School Dabha. In boys semis, hosts Somalwar went down to Montfort in a close encounter and Narayana Vidyalayam lost to Somalwar Ramdaspeth. Prizes were distributed at the hands of RP Somalwar, President; Prakash Somalwar, Secretary, Somalwar Academy Education Society; Damodar Thombre, Principal, Somalwar School Nikalas, NDBA Secretary Bhavesh Kuchanwar and member Ravi Kulkarni. SP Chande conducted the programme and proposed a vote of thanks. Ashish Bhide, Organising Secretary of the tournament, Smita Bakre NIS Basketball coach of NSCA, Virendra Jodh, Gajanan Joshi, Uday Deo, Tushar Gotmare, Alkesh Yelne, Harshal and other members of the organising committee worked hard to make the event a grand success.
