Baij flays State Govt

State Congress President :

Deepak Baij has made a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in State, saying that the State Government had not paid Rs 2,622 crore. Baij said that the government has deposited only a partial difference in the amount into farmers’ accounts. This difference is the amount between the support price and the declared price of Rs 3,100. However, the support price of paddy has increased by Rs 117 + 89 = Rs 206 in two years. Therefore, the government should calculate the difference based on Rs 3286. By paying the price at 3100, the government is cheating the farmers, he added. State Congress President Baij said that the purchase was made at the rate of 21 quintals per acre. Thus, the State government is not paying farmers 21 x 186 = Rs 3906 per acre. This year, 141 lakh metric tons of paddy was purchased.

Accordingly, the government is not paying farmers Rs 2622 crore, he added. The BJP’s character is anti-farmer. The State government did not purchase paddy from 7 lakh farmers this year. The State government purchased less paddy than its own target. Through conspiracy, lakhs of farmers were prevented from registering on the AgriStack portal. Now the State government is not even paying the full amount to the farmers, he said.
