Tightening noose on anti-social elements, Jabalpur Police conducted a rigorous vehicle checking drive to check drunken driving and violation of traffic norms. The special drive was conducted under the directives of Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay to intensify action against anti-social elements. Strict measures have also been ordered for the execution of pending warrants and action in cases related to theft, burglary, assault and other IPC offences. SP also directed that checking points be set up at different times to take legal action against traffic rule violators. (IPS), Additional SP (Crime) Jitendra Singh, Additional SP Zone-2 Pallavi Shukla, Additional SP (Rural) Suryakant Sharma and Additional SP (Traffic) Anjana Tiwari, action is being carried out by CSPs and station house officers across their respective jurisdictions. During the drive in last 24-hours, 52 habitual offenders were proceeded against under Section 129 BNSS (earlier Section 110 CrPC) while 166 individuals involved in disputes were booked under Sections 126/135(3) BNSS (earlier 107/116 CrPC). Total 31 persons were detained under Section 170 BNSS (earlier 151 CrPC). Two long-absconding non-bailable warrant accused and 30 bailable warrant accused were arrested. Besides this, 85 bailable warrants were executed.
 
In action against illegal liquor activities, 38 individuals were booked under the Excise Act, including those serving liquor in public places. Police seized 173 quarters of country-made and foreign liquor along with 55 litres of illicit country liquor. Under the Arms Act, action was taken against five persons under Section 25, and five knives were seized. Three gamblers were caught red-handed while gambling, and seven bookmakers were apprehended while accepting bets. A total of ?3,820 was seized from their possession. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, action was taken against 141 vehicle drivers, and a total of Rs 64,800 was collected as compounding fees.
