During the search of the RTO border checkpost in Kandri, the ACB officials also found Rs 4,31,290 cash
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Nagpur sleuths have arrested a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) and a private agent for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe at the border checkpost in Kandri.
According to officials, the
complainant, who works as a trailer driver, approached the ACB and alleged that officials and their agents at the checkpost demand Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 to allow trailers to pass through
the checkpoint.
Based on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap.
While the
complainant was travelling
from Nagpur to Deolapar with his owner’s trailer, the accused allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1,000 to allow the vehicle to pass through the RTO border checkpost.
During the trap, MVI Abhijit Tale of the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Nagpur City, and private agent Sushil Vinod Ramtekkar were caught while accepting the bribe in the presence of witnesses.
During a search of the checkpost office, ACB officials also found Rs 4,31,290 cash. Both accused were taken into custody from the Kandri checkpost.
A case is being registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Ramtek Police Station.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Dr Digambar Pradhan, Addl SPs Madhuri Bawiskar, Vijay Mahulkar, PI Rajkiran Yeole, PI Jitendra Wairagade, and staff Bharat Thakur, Dipali Bhagat, and Homeshwar Wailkar other senior officers of the ACB.
