SAI Sharma clinched the Nagpur District 117th Weekend Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2026 with an all win record the other day. The rapid tournament was organised by Nagpur District Chess Association (NDCA) at Dhanwate National College Hall in Congress Nagar. A total of 37 players including 23 ELO rated players participated in the tournament. Total seven rounds were played in which Sharma garnered six points to emerge clear winner.

 

Total cash prizes of Rs 6,000 were distributed among top 10 players of the tournament. In the seventh and final round, Sharma defeated Lohit Rushikesh on the second board to finish at the top while Swara Mishra and Omprakash Soni split point to take 5.5 points from the competition. Mishra took the second spot while Sahajveer Singh Maras finished third. Prizes were distributed by chief arbiter Pravin Pantawane.
