THE quartet of Ajit Bende, Abdul Mashood, Rutuja Madavi and Faleshwri Rajwawe emerged winners in their respective groups of the Breads N Beyond Nagpur Marathon that was held at St Ursula Girls High School, Civil Lines, on Sunday. More than 2500 fitness enthusiasts participated in the marathon. Indian football legend Padma Shri Baichung Bhutia flagged off the races and was also chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony. Twenty lucky participants got an autographed football from Baichung Bhutia. Race Director Mitesh Rambhia informed that Bhutia was very happy to see Gen Z participating in large numbers in the marathon. In the 21km half marathon for men, Bende carved out a time of 1:11:05 in 18-30 years age group to finish ahead of Vikas Bisne (1:15:28) and Vaibhav Dandekar (1:18:02) who took the second and third spots respectively. Interestingly, in the 31-45 years group, winner Mashood had a better timing (1:09:18). He was followed by Manish Kumar (1:15:43) and Aslesh Rajwade (1:16:39). In 18-30 years women’s category, Rutuja (1:54:38) was the first to cross the finish line and was followed by Risha Shetty (2:40:58) and Mayuri Meshram (2:49:04). Here too, Faleshwri (1:34:03), who took part in the 31-45 years group, carved out much better timing than Rutuja and even Soniya Pramanik (1:45:28), who finished second in this group was better than winner of the mush younger age group. Nikita Mandloi (1:55:19) finished third. Prominently amongst those present during the prize distribution ceremony were Nibha Roshan of Breads N Beyond, Pankaj Roshan of Roshan Real Estate, Mayank Sharma of Nagpur Today, Ghanshyam Gusani and Pradeep Khare of Max Healthcare.
