Bomb blast creates panic in District Court

Legal Correspondent :

Panic gripped the Jabalpur District Court on Monday evening when a loud explosion was heard near Court No. 2. The blast caused panic among lawyers and other people present. Omti police arrived at the scene upon receiving the information and began an investigation. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Police recovered bomb remains and matches from the scene. As per the information received, final court proceedings were underway between 5 and 5.15 pm when a loud explosion was heard outside CJM Court No. 2. Upon hearing the explosion, lawyers present in the court began to leave, considering it a serious incident. Omti police also arrived at the scene upon receiving the information. Initial police investigations have revealed that the explosion may have been caused by a Pipe Bomb. The District Bar Association has protested the incident, calling it a major lapse in court security. Lawyers have demanded action against the negligence of security personnel deployed in the court premises. The police have seized the remains of the bomb and have begun examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras. The police are investigating the matter from all angles.

Advocate Manish Mishra, President of the District Bar Association, said that today's incident in the court not only raises questions about the security of the Judge and lawyers, but also demonstrates the unrestrained access to the court premises. The question also arises how did someone manage to get inside with a bomb and detonate it when police are deployed at every gate of the court for security? He said that even though the explosion was small, it clearly points to a major lapse in security arrangements. Lawyers have demanded that the police must ensure that such an incident does not occur again in the court premises. Advocates reported that a similar security incident had occurred at the High Court a few days earlier. A teacher entered the High Court with a knife. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Superintendent of Police suspended four policemen. The occurrence of such an explosion at the District Court just a few days later demonstrates the inadequate security arrangements at either the High Court or the District Court. Omti Police Station Officer Rajpal Singh Baghel arrived at the scene with his team upon hearing the bomb blast and began investigating the incident. The Station Officer stated that CCTV footage installed at the District Court is being examined and action will be taken against anyone found suspicious. Bomb remnants and matchsticks were found at the scene, which have been confiscated.
