WITH a primary focus on rejuvenating the district’s water infrastructure and ensuring immediate relief for rural water issues, District Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh has directed officials to make the upcoming “Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan” a high-priority, result-oriented mission during a time limit meeeting on Monday. The campaign, scheduled for launch on March 19, will prioritise the restoration of traditional water sources and the implementation of modern harvesting systems through widespread public participation. Immediate redressal for rural water grievances In a stern directive to field officials, Collector Singh emphasised that any drinking water problems in rural areas must be handled with urgency. He has tasked Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Janpad officials to reach the spot immediately upon receiving information about water scarcity and ensure a swift resolution. Urban bodies and Gram Panchayats have also been instructed to maintain an uninterrupted supply during the peak summer months. Focus on river rejuvenation A key highlight of the campaign remains the conservation and restoration of the Bahya River in Berasia and the Kolans River.

The Collector has instructed departments to prepare a detailed action plan for these “lifeline” rivers. “We must involve NGOs and social organisations to ensure this becomes a mass movement,” Singh added. Health drive: HPV vaccination Reviewing the progress of the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination, the Collector expressed concern over the current pace. He ordered the Health, Education, and Women and Child Development departments to organise joint camps for 14-year-old girls. School principals have been directed to educate parents on how the vaccine prevents cervical cancer before proceeding with consent-based vaccination. Grievance management, farmer support Regarding the CM Helpline, the Collector set a strict timeline for clearing complaints pending for 50 and 100 days. Furthermore, for the upcoming wheat procurement, he reviewed farmer registrations and directed that all procurement centers be fully equipped with gunny bags, weighing scales, and proper transport logistics. The meeting saw the participation of CEO District Panchayat Ila Tiwari, Upper Collector Ankur Meshram, SDMs, and other senior department heads.
