In a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, on Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved a massive financial outlay of Rs 4,525 crore for various developmental and maintenance projects under the Public Works Department. In a significant pro-farmer move, the Cabinet also announced a bonus of Rs 40 per quintal for wheat procured at the minimum support price (MSP) during the Rabi marketing year 2026-27. Rs 945.20 crore for high-tech urban connectivity in Ujjain: A centerpiece of the Cabinet’s decision is the approval of Rs 945.20 crore for high-tech urban connectivity in Ujjain. The project includes a 5.32 km long elevated corridor system, featuring a four-lane corridor from Chimanganj Mandi (Indira Nagar) to Indore Gate and a 2-lane corridor from Nikas Chauraha to Indore Gate. This project has been exempted from departmental index restrictions to ensure swift execution. The irrigation sector also received a boost with the administrative approval of Rs 228.42 crore for the Panwar Micro Irrigation Project in Rewa district. Once completed, the project will provide irrigation facilities to 7,350 hectares of land, benefitting 37 villages across the Jawa and Teonthar tehsils. To support farmers, the Rs 40 per quintal bonus will be funded through departmental budget provisions.

The Cabinet further decided that any surplus wheat not accepted by the Government of India would be disposed of by the MP State Civil Supplies Corporation through open tenders, with the State Government bearing all associated costs. This expenditure will be reimbursed through the Mukhya Mantri Krishak Fasal Uparjan Sahayata Yojana. Departmental renaming and policy shifts: Reflecting the State’s priority on cow protection, the Cabinet approved renaming the ‘Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department’ to the ‘Gopalan and Animal Husbandry Department.’ Correspondingly, the directorate will now be known as the ‘Directorate of Gopalan and Animal Husbandry.’ In a move to streamline governance, the “Madhya Pradesh Store Purchase and Service Procurement Rules” have been shifted from the MSME Department to the Finance Department. Officials noted that this administrative shift would not incur any additional financial burden on the Madhya Pradesh. The Cabinet ensured the long-term funding of several key programs: Road Development Program-6 & 7: Sanctioned Rs 1,543 crore and Rs 1,476 crore respectively for continuity until March 2031. NDB Funded Projects: Allocated Rs 50.10 crore for bridge and road construction. Maintenance: Approved Rs 200.35 crore for the upkeep of government residences and Rs 300.70 lakh for the maintenance of Satpura Bhawan, Vindhyachal Bhawan, and the Shaurya Smarak.
