THE Department of Postgraduate Physical Education, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) and Khel Khiladi Khel, in a joint venture, felicitated veteran women athletes recently. Dr Suvarna Bhalerao, former Head of Sports Department of SB City College, who was first Nagpur player to hold university’s colours in four sports, was chief guest of the ceremony. Dr Bhalerao felicitated Principal Dr Sharda Naidu, Principal Vishakha Joshi, Dr Kumkum Boratkar, Dr Madhavi Mardikar, Vanita Kubde, Dr Chhaya Patil, Veena Kawale, Dr Alka Thodge, Kunda Dawre, Shakun Ghogre, Anushree Mahurkar, Dr Vijaya Kumar, Aruna Dogra, Vrushali Deshmukh, Nikita Vishnu, Roshni Khobragade, Principal Archana Rahate Gole, Swati Bhalerao Kadu, Alka Wanjekar Imane and Archana Lende Chakole on the occasion.

 

City’s blind swimmer Ishwari Pandey was also honoured on the occasion. Dr Mardikar made introductory remarks and introduced the former players who were honoured. Dr Bhalerao addressed the gathering recalling good old times. Sharda Naidu conducted the function while Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Sanjay Lokhande proposed a vote of thanks.
