House unanimously withdraws Freedom of religion. Amendment Act, 2006
Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly unanimously withdrew Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2006 Act on Tuesday.
Deputy Chief Minister and State Home Minister Vijay Sharma tabled the proposal in the House for the withdrawal of the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2006 (Number 18, 2006) from the House. The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly unanimously allowed the withdrawal of the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2006 Act from the House.
After consideration, the Chair allowed the State Government to withdraw the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2006 Act from the Assembly. Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill-2026 is likely to be tabled in the House during Budget Session.
Revenue Minister faces heat over illegal plotting issue :
Revenue Minister Tankram Verma came under intense scrutiny in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Tuesday over issues related to illegal plotting and unauthorised colonies, with both Opposition and ruling party members questioning his handling of the matter.
The Opposition, dissatisfied with the responses, later staged a walkout after accusing the Minister of shielding those involved in such activities. Raising concerns over illegal plotting in Dhamtari and Kanker, MLA Ambika Markam sought details on complaints received between early 2024 and January 31, 2026, along with information on verification of land records and action taken.
