The Mayor-in-Council (M-i-C) has on Tuesday approved Jabalpur Municipal Corporation’s (JMC) estimated budget for the year 2026-27 to improve the city and provide better facilities to people. During the meeting Mayor said the new budget is better planned than last year and will help make the city more developed and organised in the coming years. One major plan is to build a big commercial building in Wright Town. This will help the corporation earn more money. The city will also open small daily-use shops to create jobs for local youth. To support women, a ‘Didi Cafe’ and a daycare centre will soon start near Narmada Prasadam Market with the help of social organisations.

The Mayor also said special attention will be given to controlling stray dogs, with a plan to carry out 100 per cent sterilisation so that people face fewer problems. The budget will also help speed up many ongoing and new development works in the city. Some roads and a square will also get new names. A square in Shatabdipuram will be named after Acharya Krishnakant Chaturvedi. Likewise, the road from Chhota Fuhara to Sujipura will be named Shri Chintaman Sahu Ji Marg, while the stretch from P K Corner to Aastha Lab near the Digambar Jain Chaityalaya will be named Sant Taran-Taran Marg. The road leading from Garha Bazaar main road to Shri Ram Leela Maidan will be named Shri Ramleela Marg.
