Second bomb hoax in 48 hrs; mail warned of blast at 2 pm, Email claims drone-deployed RDX bombs; police search finds no explosives
Staff Reporter :
For the second consecutive day, a hoax bomb threat sent via email sent shockwaves through the capital city. The Weights and Measures Department (Naap-Taul) office in MP Nagar received a threatening email on Tuesday, claiming that four miniature RDX bombs had been deployed on the premises using a drone. The email specifically warned that the explosives would be detonated at 2 pm. Following the alert, MP Nagar Police, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), rushed to the scene to secure the area. As a precautionary measure, all employees were immediately evacuated from the building.
Security teams conducted an intensive floor-to-floor search of the entire office complex. Despite the alarming claims, no suspicious objects or explosives were found, and the threat was subsequently declared a hoax. MP Nagar Police Station In-charge Jay Hind Sharma stated that while the search yielded nothing, the police took the threat seriously and followed all standard safety protocols. He noted that such emails appear to be deliberate attempts to create unnecessary public panic. This is the second time in 48 hours that the same office has been targeted.
On Monday, a similar email was received, though that message reportedly claimed its intent was merely to test the efficiency of the police’s search operations.
