- Digital travel drive expands across Maharashtra
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has reported an encouraging public response to its National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) initiative, as registration has crossed 1 lakh mark, describing it as a significant step towards digitising passenger services and simplifying travel across the State. Registrations for the smart card have crossed the important milestone of one lakh users, reflecting growing acceptance of cashless and seamless transport solutions, said MSRTC.
Officials stated that within just one week, as many as 1,00,021 passengers enrolled for the NCMC card.
The scheme has seen notable participation from beneficiaries of the Mahila Samman Yojana, with 36,129 women registering to avail themselves of the digital facility. Senior citizens have also responded positively, with 34,884 users signing up under the concession category, signalling confidence among traditionally less tech-driven commuters.
The Corporation emphasised that the initiative is not merely a technological upgrade but part of a broader effort to make travel more convenient, transparent and secure. By reducing reliance on cash transactions and manual ticketing systems, MSRTC aims to modernise its operations while improving efficiency for both passengers and staff.
