HE has collected the prestigious Six Star Badge in marathon and city Advocate Ashish Agrawal wants to go further and test his endurance.
Agrawal, who recently collected the sixth badge after participating in six marathons all over the world, has now set his sights on competing the gruelling Comrades in South Afica.
The Six Star World Marathon Majors (WMM), introduced by Abbott World Marathon Majors in 2016, are held in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York and Adv Agrawal participated in all six to become the first athlete from Orange City to do so.
“I thank the Almighty and my supporters for this recognition. It was not an easy task as the 44-year-old became one among the 200 Indian athletes to complete the marathon.
“I started in 2022 with the Berlin marathon and never though of completing all six.
But once I managed to cross the line in 3.40,53 seconds in Berlin, the dream of completing all the remaining five crossed my mind,” said Adv Agrawal while talking with the media on Friday.
Adv Agrawal completed six marathons in four years. In 2022 he competed in Berlin (3.40.53s) and since then there was no looking back. In 2023 London (4.01.47s), 2024 Chicago (3.39.13s), 2024 New York (3.48.16s), 2025 Boston (3.42.53s) and 2026 Tokyo (3.42.53s), he fulfilled his dream.
“There are three more marathons. Cape Town, Sydney and Shanghai has been added and I will try to compete in them as well. But my next target is the gruelling Comrades in South Africa. It tests your skill and endurance level. I will aim for that in coming years,” declared Adv Agrawal.
He thanked his coaches from Bengaluru Deepa Nayak and Shreyas Karnad, sports physio Dr Kevin Agrawal, yoga instructor Hrutvik Pasare and Mitesh Rambhia, his brother Amit, wife Nivedita, daughter Alisha, mother Manju and father Shivkumar for their guidance and support.
