General insurance employees demand Govt to form

CONSIDERING the current global situation, a resolution was passed at the concluding session of the 14th National Conference of the General Insurance Employees All India Association held in Nagpur, demanding the Government to form of a unified company by merging the four public sector general insurance companies on the lines of Life Insurance Corporation of India, instead of privatising them.
 
The two-day national conference was organised at Hotel Tuli International and concluded on Sunday evening. On this occasion, National General Secretary Trilok Singh, Western Zone General Secretary Prashant Dixit, Additional General Secretary A Kumaravelu, and Eastern Zone General Secretary Tridib Mukherjee were present on the dias. Resolutions were passed on matters including prevention of human rights violations, opposition to discriminatory fund allocation, making four key labour laws worker-friendly, opposing 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the insurance sector, granting official recognition to GIEAIA at the national level, opposing contractual employment practices, and appointing a regulatory authority for the general insurance sector. New office bearers were also appointed for the next term. Amarjeet Kaur was elected President, A Kumaravelu as Executive President, Trilok Singh as General Secretary, and Tridib Mukherjee as Additional General Secretary. In the officers’ association, D. Vijayakumar was elected President and John Paul as General Secretary. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Prashant Dixit. National leaders appreciated the efforts of the Nagpur branch for organising the event. Key contributors to the conference’s success included Saurabh Tatekar, Umashankar Gupta, Vinay Karpe, Liladhar Nimje, Yogesh Junghare, Anil Ghodmare, Nikhil Bhute, Homraj Ade, and Sanjay Ghatate.
