Number of registrations for the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) PCM group witnessed a rise this year as compared to the registrations received last year. In 2025, the number of students registered for PCM group were 4,64,262, while this year, it rose to 4,75,500. But there is a drastic fall in number of students appearing for PCB group. Last year, 3,01,073 students registered. This year, the number has fallen to 2,81,592. If one considers the decrease in number of students appearing in HSC this year, then the rise of 11,000 students for MHT CET (PCM) registration looks better.
The examination of MHT CET (PCM) is on April 21, while of PCB is on April 11.
If one looks at the total number of students registered for the CETs for various other subjects, then the number of students registering is discouraging. In the academic year 2025-26, the number of students registered for the CET exams conducted for the admissions to courses like agriculture, technical education, medical and vocational courses were 14,07,100. This year, 13,05,649 students were registered by the Maharashtra CET cell, almost one lakh less as compared to the registration done in 2025. Although the board has given a deadline of March 25 for registration of some CETs, this number is not expected to increase significantly. This number is a whopping 1 lakh 1 thousand 451 less than last year.
This is a decrease of 7.21 percent.
There has been a very slight increase in CETs like M-PED, M.Ed, B-Design. However, the number of registrations for CETs has decreased drastically, with the highest decrease of 24,443 students being in the registration of MBA-MMS CET. Last year, 1,57,281 students had appeared for this exam. This year, there has been a decrease of 15.54 percent as 1,32,838 students have filled their applications. Next is the decrease of 19,462 students compared to last year for the PCB group. Last year, 3,01,073 students registered for this examination. This year, there is a decrease of 6.46 percent and 2,81,611 students have registered. For last few years, the seats for nursing, pharmacy, law-three years courses have remained vacant.
