A couple riding a bike were injured in a road accident on the Keolari-Nainpur road in Seoni district. The two children riding with them also sustained minor injuries. The incident occurred near Gangatola village.
Poonu Uike, a resident of Saliwada village in the Keolari police station area, was travelling with his wife and two children on a bike towards Keolari when a speeding pickup truck coming from the opposite direction hit their bike. Following the collision, all travelling on the bike fell on the ground while the pickup driver fled the scene.
Eyewitnesses at the scene rushed the injured to Civil Hospital Keolari in a private vehicle. They are undergoing treatment there. Doctors reported that the couple sustained serious injuries, while the children are out of danger.
According to eyewitnesses, the pickup truck was speeding and driving recklessly when it hit the bike. After the accident, the driver fled the scene without stopping. Upon receiving information about the incident, Keolari police arrived at the scene and began investigating the matter. Police are questioning nearby residents to search for the fleeing vehicle and driver.
Keolari Police Station In-charge, Pritam Singh Tilgam stated that reports of an unidentified pickup truck hitting a bike have been received. The injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital, and the case is being investigated.
He stated that the accused driver will be identified soon and legal action will be taken against him.
Local residents have demanded strict action against speeding and reckless drivers from the administration to prevent such accidents in the future.
