Datta Meghe, veteran politician and educationist, was consigned to flames with full State honours at Paonar (Wardha district) on Monday. The funeral rituals were performed by family members, including former MLA Sagar Meghe, MLA Sameer Meghe and Raghav Meghe, who offered prayers and lit the funeral pyre. Several prominent dignitaries paid their respects, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Guardian Minister Dr Pankaj Bhoyar, Minister of State Adv Ashish Jaiswal, MLA Charan Thakur, Congress leader and former State President Nana Patole, MLC Abhijit Wanjari, former minister Rajendra Mulak, MLA Sameer Kunawar and MLA Rajesh Bakane, along with senior administrative officials and leaders from various political parties. A large number of social workers, industrialists and citizens also gathered to pay their last respects. Many recalled his contributions and described him as a visionary leader dedicated to public service. Family members, including his wife Shalinitai Meghe, sons Sagar and Sameer Meghe, daughters Smita Dharkar and Sangeeta Grover, daughters-in-law Devika Meghe and Vrinda Meghe, along with other relatives and grandchildren were present. Attendees offered condolences to the family.
