Three persons, including a four-year-old girl, were killed on the spot after two two-wheelers collided head-on with great force near Zilpa village on the Katol–Saoner road on Monday evening. According to police information, Ashish alias Satish Mohan Dhawale (32), a resident of Sawangi Tomar in Kalmeshwar tehsil, was travelling from Isapur in Katol tehsil, which is his wife’s maternal home, towards Kalmeshwar. He was accompanied by his wife, Pranita Satish Dhawale (28), and his elder brother’s four-year-old daughter, Aarohi Dhawale. At the same time, Rajendra Mahadev Khandate, a resident of Lohgad, was travelling towards Katol on another two-wheeler. Preliminary reports suggest that, Khandate was riding on thewrong side of the road.
 
This led to a direct and severe collision between the two vehicles near Zilpa village. The impact of the crash was very strong. Satish Dhawale, little Aarohi Dhawale and Rajendra Khandate died on the spot due to serious injuries. Pranita Dhawale suffered severe injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Her condition is reported to be critical. After the accident, the bodies of the deceased were sent to the Rural Hospital in Katol for post-mortem examination. Police Inspector Ranjit Shirsath of Katol Police Station visited the spot and is leading the investigation into the case. The incident has caused deep sorrow in Sawangi Tomar and Lohgad villages. The death of the young child has especially left people shocked and saddened.
