The South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC) has announced the much awaited 32nd Orange City Craft Mela and Folk Dance Festival from March 27 to April 5, to be held at their premises in Civil Lines, opposite the MLA Hostel. The exhibition will start at 2 pm everyday, and remain open till 9.30 pm. Cultural performances will also be held on all ten days, from 6.30 pm onwards.
Various folk artists to perform
“The folk and tribal dance performances will be held from March 27 to March 30. Around 150 artisans and more than 300 folk and tribal artists will participate in this festival,” said Deepak Kulkarni, Assistant Director (Programmes) at a press conference held on Wednesday. “On March 31, a programme titled ‘Divyarang Divyanganche’ by children with disabilities, followed by Priyanka Ahirwar, a prominent folk music and bhajan singer.
On April 1, ‘Kabir Gayan’ will be presented by Mukesh Chauhan, a famous singer from Madhya Pradesh. After this, traditional Maharashtrian folk dances will be performed by transgender artists.”
Mithila Talawanekar, Deputy Director, added, “We have a line-up of talented artists, both local and from other states, coming to perform. We request Nagpurians to attend this festival and show their continued support towards traditional crafts.”
Handicrafts, jewellery, food, and much more
The craft mela will also include various stalls selling handicrafts, clothes, jewellery, footwear, home decor, and much more from across the country. Traditional Indian food from various states of India will also be an important part of the festival.
SCZCC officials have appealed to citizens of Nagpur to participate in the programme in large numbers.
