Panic broke out after a bomb threat email was received at Head Post Office Jabalpur and the nearby Passport Office Jabalpur on Wednesday afternoon. The email, received by the post office superintendent, warned of an imminent blast and instructed authorities to evacuate the premises immediately. Following this, officials alerted the Civil Lines Police Station Jabalpur, control room and senior police officers. Besides this, all the officers, employees and general public were alerted and evacuated the post-office and pass-port office premises. Soon after, the police team, along with bomb disposal and dog squads, quickly reached the spot and launched an intensive search operation. The team thoroughly checked various sections of the post office, including parcel units, as well as the passport office premises.

The operation lasted for nearly an hour. Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) In-charge Pankaj Singh supervised the search and later directed officials to ensure strict screening of all incoming parcels using metal detectors as a precautionary measure. After the detailed search, no suspicious object was found and the threat was declared a hoax. According to postal officials, the email also mentioned threats to passport offices across multiple zones in Madhya Pradesh. Following the clearance, staff and officials breathed a sigh of relief. Police have initiated an investigation to trace the source of the threatening email.
