Sleuths of Lokayukta police special establishment nabbed woman constable of RTO and her associate while taking bribe of Rs 4,500 from a vehicle owner on Jabalpur-Nagpur highway, on Wednesday. The arrested have been identified as Shweta Ahirwar, an RTO constable posted in Jabalpur and Mohit Sahu, a private individual.
Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta Jabalpur, Anjulata Patle informed that acting on the directives of Yogesh Deshmukh and under the guidance of Manoj Singh, Lokayukta Police Jabalpur Unit carried out a successful trap operation and caught two individuals red-handed while accepting a bribe.
SP, Patle added that the complainants Prashant Dattatray Jadhav, a vehicle owner from Navi Mumbai and driver Jai Singh Yadav from Chhatarpur district operate multiple transport vehicles that frequently pass through Jabalpur en route to Uttar Pradesh and other states.
On March 25, one of their vehicles was passing through the Jabalpur-Nagpur Highway near Bargi when the accused demanded Rs 4,500 to allow smooth passage. After
verifying the complaint, Lokayukta team laid a trap and caught both accused accepting the bribe amount from the driver. The accused were apprehended near Bargi on the highway while taking the bribe and have been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
The trap team comprised of Inspector Rahul Gajbhiye, Inspector Shashi Marskole, Inspector Brijmohan Singh Narwaria, Inspector Jitendra Yadav and other members of Lokayukta Jabalpur unit.
