A massive fire engulfed multiple furniture shops and a factory in Adhartal area in the early hours of Thursday. Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot after receiving information, but by then the flames had spread rapidly. According to Fire Department, the fire originated in a furniture shop and its adjoining workshop, before spreading to nearby establishments. Several businesses, including Sahu Furniture and Classic Furniture, were affected.

 

Considering severity of the blaze, Municipal Corporation deployed seven fire brigades and eight water tankers to control the situation. Fire-fighters worked continuously and managed to bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading further. A shop owner at the spot estimated that furniture worth around Rs 10 lakh was destroyed in his store while other establishments also reported heavy losses. Initial assessments suggest that Classic Furniture alone suffered damages of up to Rs 1 crore. Officials from the Fire Department said that timely response helped avert a larger disaster. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown and will be determined after a detailed investigation.
