Ram Navami, marking the birth of Lord Shri Ram, was celebrated with unprecedented devotion and enthusiasm across Sanskardhani. The festivities witnessed a surge in religious fervour, especially in the backdrop of Ram Lalla’s consecration in Ayodhya in recent years.
From early morning, temples and households across the city were filled with prayers, bhajan kirtan and religious rituals.
As the clock struck noon, considered the auspicious time of Lord Ram’s birth, temples echoed with sound of bells, conch shells, drums and created a deeply devotional atmosphere. This year’s Ram Navami was marked by a rare and highly auspicious alignment of nine auspicious yogas, including Kedar, Gajkesari and Ravi yog, enhancing significance of the day. Devotees also watched live telecast of Surya Tilak ceremony from Ayodhya at various locations through large screens.
Major temples, including Ramlila Bhavan in Govindganj and Mahavir Swami Temple in Katra, conducted Ram Janm rituals with tradition. Religious activities continued throughout the day in several parts of the city, including Madan Mahal, Shanti Nagar, Naudra Bridge and Supatal.
Akhand Ramayan recitations, havan and special prayers were also performed in houses.
In the evening, a grand procession was taken out under the aegis of Shri Sanatan Dharm Mahasabha. The procession began at 6 pm from Sanatan Dharm Tiraha near old bus stand and passed through key city routes. It includes dozens of tableaux from Shri Ram Temple, Madan Mahal, along with cultural displays by various religious and social organisations. Bhajan mandalis, bands and traditional dance performances added to the grandeur. Police and administration made elaborate security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the procession. The event concluded at Govindganj with a musical Ram Katha by Swami Arvind Ji Maharaj from Vrindavan, followed by a dharma sabha, welcome of saints, fireworks and distribution of prasad.
