Promptness of police averts major mishap as car suddenly catches fire in Civil Lines

A major accident was averted in Civil Lines area when a car suddenly caught fire on Friday evening. Prompt action by police ensured that the blaze was quickly brought under control. According to police, at around 5:15 pm, a Maruti Brezza (MP-20ZJ-0374) coming from Dumna side suddenly caught fire while passing through Subhash Chandra Banerjee Marg in Civil Lines. The driver, Arif Khan, a resident of Awasthi Apartment, Civil safely exited, preventing any personal injury.
At the time, a police team accompanying Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay was present nearby. Showing swift response and presence of mind, constables Shiva Raj, Saurabh Tiwari, Deepak Kanojia, Mukesh Parihar, and Pawan Tiwari quickly used fire extinguishers to douse the flames. Their timely intervention brought the fire under control within minutes, preventing the situation from escalating into a major incident. SP Sampat Upadhyay praised the police personnel for their alertness, courage and effective crisis management. He said that ensuring public safety remains the top priority of the police and such prompt actions reflect their commitment to duty.
