Durg police has arrested two persons who used to mortgage vehicles after taking them on rent from their owners. The accused ran a travel agency and after taking vehicles from their owners on rent they never paid the charges and instead mortgaged them to some other persons.
Nine such four wheeler vehicles and a motorcycle mortgaged by them have been recovered by the police. Those arrested were identified as Amit Kumar Singh (28), a resident of Charbhata, Rajnandgaon and Varun Salame (25), resident of Budhwaripara, Dongargarh.
Police informed that few days ago the victim Aakub Khan had lodged a complaint in Mohan Nagar police station.
While investigating into the case, the police discovered that the accused duo ran Maa Laxmi Tour and Travels. After takPolice said that it recovered nine such four wheeler vehicles which were mortgaged by the accused while also recovering a motorcycle. The accused duo have been arrested on various charges in the crime registered against them under sections of BNS. The duo was produced before the court from where they were sent to jail on judicial remand. Additional Superintendent of Police (urban) Sukhnandan Rathore held a press conference in Bhilai to disclose the matter before media on Friday evening.
